The government plans to ban the provision of disposable plastic tableware in restaurants ahead of schedule. Regarding the timeline for regulating disposable plastic tableware, the first phase of the regulation was implemented on April 22, 2024. The second phase is expected to be implemented after 2025.
Drawbacks of Current Solutions
- Bringing Your Own Bento Box: This isn’t a big issue when used in small quantities. However, when it is required to completely replace disposable bento boxes, it becomes inconvenient for restaurants' daily operations and also causes inconvenience for customers.
- Plant Fiber Bento Boxes: To turn plant fibers into bento boxes, manufacturers must add chemicals to make the boxes stronger and more durable. However, these chemicals may cause adverse reactions in the human body.
- Biodegradable Plastic Bento Boxes: Currently, there is no suitable environment in nature for biodegradable plastic to degrade. Additionally, the composite materials used in biodegradable plastics make these boxes unsuitable for recycling.
Addressing the Root Cause of Disposable Takeout Boxes
In recent years, Hong Kong has been affected by the pandemic, leading to an inevitable increase in the frequency of dining through takeout. At the same time, we are also aware that many takeout boxes are made from plastic materials. Most of these plastic takeout boxes are discarded in landfills, and due to their difficulty in decomposition, they cause harm to both land and marine environments. In the long run, this will also have an impact on human health.

GreenBox Fees
Anyone can register as a GreenBox member using their phone number. After successful registration, you can top up your account via major payment platforms or link a credit card.
Deposit for Use
Each time you use the GreenBox service, a deposit will be deducted from your wallet or credit limit on your credit card. When the member returns the GreenBox, the deposit will be refunded to the member's wallet or credited back to the credit card.
Service Fee
We provide customers with sustainable, high-quality services, including cleaning, disinfecting, and transportation. Therefore, our company will charge an appropriate service fee to support operations.

Internet of Things – Smart Recycling Bin
Each smart recycling bin is equipped with internet functionality, allowing real-time updates on the status of the bin. Customers can log in and return their GreenBox by entering a mobile app or phone number. Additionally, barcode and QR code scanners are available to confirm the number of GreenBoxes being recycled.
One-Stop Customer Management Platform
Our online one-stop platform provides various information: including member account inquiries, automatic collection machine locations, real-time space availability, and offers instant customer service to answer any questions.
In-House Cleaning Facility
To ensure that every reusable bento box is properly cleaned and disinfected, our company owns its own cleaning facility, which operates according to international quality management standards. Additionally, to ensure the quality of cleaning, we also commission third-party organizations to conduct quality inspections.
Carbon Footprint Calculation
Each time a customer uses the GreenBox service, it reduces the use of a disposable plastic bento box, which also saves the carbon emissions generated during its production. Based on this logic, our company has commissioned third-party organizations to calculate and certify the carbon footprint, providing clear and direct data on how the GreenBox service contributes to reducing carbon emissions.
Providing Feasible ESG Annual Reports for Enterprises
Our company will use third-party carbon emission data to design ESG service packages in various prices and formats for enterprises to choose from.
